Teri’s Fall Feature Friday

I love fall. I love the colors of fall, I love the smells of fall, I love the weather of fall. I also like to decorate for fall. I wanted to share a couple of my new fall decorations I made this year.

November 2009 Fall Decor

These harvest blocks are one of the crafts we did last week at craft day. Please excuse the atrocious Mod Podge job. I didn’t realize how badly it had bubbled until I tried to take pictures. The little pumpkin I picked up on the Michael’s clearance for some insane amount like 39¢. I think it looks cute on my letters.

November 2009 Harvest Blocks 2

The floral arrangement I made using fall stuff that I got on clearance at Michael’s for 80% off. What a steal. I got everything pictured at Michael’s, except for the ribbon, and including the ribbon I paid about $18! Can you believe it! It turned out better than I had hoped. I LOVE it!!! I needed something large and decorative like that. It’s quite big, it measures about 15” wide by 26” tall. I love the little owl, he was a definite prize! It needed something around the raw edge of the pumpkin that I had cut off, and I wanted moss, but I didn’t have any, so I found this fall ribbon I had purchased at Hobby Lobby I think, and created this ruffly trim by hot gluing it down in segments. I think it added just the right touch. I hope you agree (if not, oh well, I love it).

Last but not least is my new fall wreath. I didn’t make this one, I couldn’t have made it for what I bought it for I don’t think. I purchased it last week at Michael’s. It was on clearance at 80% off and then I had a coupon for and extra 15% of a premade floral. Making the grand total just under $5. I would never have thought of this grey blue as a fall color, but I really think it works here. Plus I love the owl ribbon. Who could resist the touch of bling? This isn’t my front door, I couldn’t get a decent picture of it on my front door, so pretend the door is white okay?

Very creative! And I can't believe the prices. Those little owls on the ribbon are really cute. I have some similar leaves, and I'm trying to think if I got them at Michaels's or not. I used mine for a post I had intended to do yesterday, but with my computer network fritzing, that thought went out the window!

XO,

Sheila (joyfully returned from involuntary exile... the new computer cable worketh!) ;-)

I love that ribbon around the pumpkin! I love your blocks, too! Funny that you got the same fleur de lis! They're a nice size, too, aren't they? I'm glad I got the two.

Love Ly! Those blocks really have my attention. The sky's the limit with any theme. What a great idea!

BTW, my first mod podge wrinkled just a tad too. I think I know why.. when I had too much glue lumped underneath. Taking something like an old credit card and carefully burnishing it seemed to help with my 'issues.' :)

Thanks for linking up to SNS #6!

Very creative and warm. The blocks are delightful! I could use this idea in so many ways. YOu have a good eye for putting things together, and on a budget too. You are my kind of gal!
