Feature Friday: Fall Friday Frenzy.....A crazy day!!

Today being Black Friday we started the day very early. We love Black Friday. We are part of those nusto people who go out shopping before dawn and return 5 or 6 stores later. We love when we can go together, but we were apart this year. Luckily Teri was with our mom. They were at Penneys at 4 am and Micki was in line at Target at 330 am with her 2 of her sister in laws and her friend. (whom we fondly refer to as our triplet). I know I know, crazy. And we were both so excited to go that we didn't really sleep. Micki got a whoppin one hour of sleep and Teri got about 4. Teri hit Penneys, Target, Roberts, Ikea, Radio Shack and a photo shop. Micki hit Target, Walmart, Old Navy, Best Buy, Walmart again for a return, and Khols. We plan with our sister in laws to divide and conquer stores. We always divide up parts of the stores and other stores and pick up stuff for eachother. Last year we were together with our Mom and it was one of the most fun times we have ever had in a long time Black Friday shopping. This year we had a great time because we got everything we went for which never happens. :)

For the rest of the crazy day, after a short nap Micki took her 2 kids and 7 neices and nephews to the park and they had a blast. That is until the youngest one was a party pooper....literally. Then she brought them all home and fed them macaroni and cheese and hot dogs and applesauce. Dinner for 9 kids is a lot more challenging than dinner for 2 kids, for sure. It was so much fun though. Micki was so tired she went to the park in her pajamas. Oops....ran into some people from the kids school. Teri hung out with her sisters in laws and planned Christmas activities. She then watched Biggest Loser: Where are they now. Then did a craftastrophies that will have to be finished at a later date. :(

Here are some pictures from the park. We wanted to take pics of shopping but we were on a mission to secure our items.

Bonus feature: craft day video. We finally got this video uploaded. However there is a warning attached.....it's unedited and uncensored. :) Side note, the belch at the end wasn't either one of us. I think we were a little goofy by then.

What We Are Thankful For

Here are the top ten thirteen things we are thankful for this year (they aren’t in the order of importance we couldn’t order them, it was too hard). What are you thankful for this year?

1 - Each other (of course)

2 – Our great parents

3 – Our loving Heavenly Father

4 – Our testimonies of our Savior Jesus Christ

5 – Bon Jovi (is it okay to list this with the last two, hope so, because we are thankful for all three)

6 – That we both have stable jobs

7 – That we have a good education so we could both become Registered Nurses

8 – Our husbands

9 – Our wonderful kids

10 – Our in-laws

11 – Bounteous food on our tables

12 – Safe and warm homes

13 – Caffeine (c’mon, we both work nights right now)

During this holiday season, there is a message we would like to share with you. If you are interested in learning why we have such strong testimonies of our Savior Jesus Christ and a loving Father in Heaven, click here:

There will always be a button on our side bar that you can access the website for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from our blog if you want to visit it in the future.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL OF YOU!!!! MAY YOUR LIVES BE BLESSED!

What’s Cookin’ Wednesday: Micki’s Pumpkin Torte

pumpkin torte 003-1

Just in time for Thanksgiving here is a recipe for Pumpkin Torte that they made in my son's class:

It's so yummy!!

crust:

yellow cake mix less 1 cup

1 egg

1/2 c. melted butter

mix together and pat into bottom of 9x13 pan

filling:

3 cups pumpkin pie mix (not just pumpkin)

2 eggs

2/3 cup milk

mix together and pour on top of crust

topping:

1 c yellow cake mix

1 t. cinnamon

1/4 c. sugar

1/4 c. margarine (room temp)

crumble together and sprinkle over the top of the filling

Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 40 mins. Top with whipped cream and serve.

Today in class they just used it all as topping instead of crust so the picture looks a little different. I prefer it with the crust. Enjoy!!!

Tadpole Tuesday: Micki’s Mini Kids Trees

Note: The TREES are mini, not the kids

My kids got mini trees this year. The crooked one in the boot my mother in law bought, on clearance at Michaels 90% off last year, for my son. So it was like $1.50. And the black one I bought after Halloween for $1.19. My kiddos loved them and had fun decorating them. They love that they each have their own tree in their room.

Mystery Monday: Thanksgiving Traditions and Micki's Fall Floral

Our Thanksgiving traditions include eating, eating and more eating. :) Our mom and mothers in law are great cooks. We love to spend the holidays with family, both of us are away from our parents right now, and so the holidays are extra special when we get to see them. For years on the day after Thanksgiving we decorated the Christmas tree with our dad. It's quite the hodge podge of ornaments, especially fisherman Santas, vintage elves and homemade ornaments by none other than yours truly (there's even a Grumpy dwarf ornament that we gave him one year when we were in college, because he had been grumpy a lot that year). Now when we get to go home Grandpa decorates the tree with the grandkids.

Now for the mystery......What are your Thanksgiving traditions?

I made this centerpiece last night at like 2 am. I work the night shift right now and can't sleep, so I craft. Here's the mess I made while making it and the finished product. :) I love it, and I had to have an owl because my sister did. I bought a Christmas ornament from Michaels that was an owl.

Teri's Doin' The Happy Dance

I have read on several blogs about the good deals people have gotten at the Habitat for Humanity ReStores. I live in a relatively small town, and didn't think in a million years that we would have one. I did the happy dance on Friday night when I discovered that we do indeed have one, and I mae the hubs go there bright and early Saturday morning. I managed to score some wood for more of these for cheap. We also came out with some tile for a project and some moulding to make some picture frames with. It was a great trip!
